Gurbaksh Chahal | A Few Resolutions Everyone Should Make For 2015
I’m not a fan of resolutions. Because, many of us will create something we will focus on for only the first two weeks. But, we live in a world today where our behaviors have changed.
And, maybe in 2015 we can all agree to do the following things to live a happier and prosperous new year.
■ Remove negativity from your life. Whether it’s commenting on social media, or it’s judging what a celebrity does with her hair. Any negativity will only make you more of a negative person. And, to be blunt, nobody really cares what you tweet about them, especially them.
■ Stop caring so much about social media! It doesn’t matter how many likes you get, followers, or retweets. If you like something enough to post it, what else really matters?
■ If you hate your job, quit. Repeat after me: No money is worth the misery. Everyone is talented, this just means, you’ve sacrificed your inner talent for someone else’s dream.
■ Apologize for what you did wrong and forgive those who have wronged you. Life goes on, and so must you.
■ As they say, blood is always thicker than water. Strengthen relationships with your family. You can pick your friends, but your family was chosen for you.
■ Travel, go see the world. Get outside of your normal boundaries. Go out and explore your city, or even another country. If you don’t have the money, then go volunteer somewhere. It will be a blessing to your soul.
■ Start a daily exercise routine! It’s beneficial to your mind for you to take an hour and clear your head. Plus, it eliminates stress and you come out walking with a smile.
■ Clear the enemies. If someone has done something wrong, remove him or her from your life, and move on. No need to reminisce. Start with a clean slate, don’t let anyone have the power of your being.
■ Like I mentioned above, clear your “frenemies” unless they’re business. Don’t spend 2015 surrounded by people you secretly despise. Negative energy is a plague for the human mind that prohibits happiness.
■ Go say “Hello” to someone new! Get out of your comfort zone. You never know, that person across the room may be your new friend or ally.
■ Go sky dive, base jump or swim with the dolphins. Cross something crazy off your bucket list and do something extraordinary. Conquer that fear.
■ Play the phone game at dinner. Have everyone turn his or her phone upside down. Social media, emails, phone calls, and texting can wait. Your moments with your family can’t.
■ Embrace your inner confidence. Understand your strengths and shout them from your rooftop. Show the world, what you’re really made of.
At the end of the day, there is no perfect resolution or list to follow. We’re all complicated creatures that live complicated lives in a world that has become different. The only true secret of life remains, is inner happiness. Follow what you must, to achieve that.
