As they say, “There is no elevator to success, you just have to take the stairs.”
Success isn’t something that will one day land in your hands, and tell you to continue with it. It’s something that requires hard work, an excess amount of time, better organization, and most importantly, stepping out of your comfort zone.
If you’re not experiencing some form of discomfort, you’re not doing it properly. All successful entrepreneurs, CEO’s, and even high-achieving students will experience some structure of discomfort.
Through the years, I’ve learned that there are seven simple, yet uncomfortable steps you can take to achieve success. They aren’t the only ones, but they will get you closer to your ultimate goal.
Strangers
They’re not really strangers. You may call them one now, but within the next 5 minutes they might be a friend. Take your company for example. If you work in a big company, make an effort to go introduce yourself to one new person a day, or have lunch with someone who you’ve never acquainted with before.
It may feel uncomfortable at first, but who knows where this conversation can lead? Some of my most random conversations have turned into my biggest opportunities.
Make it a priority to meet people. You’ll be amazed at how much you can learn from others, and even how many opportunities may pop up.
Reach Out
Everyone has to have someone that they look up to. Whether it’s an entrepreneur, a musician, or even a blogger.
Find their contact information, and reach out to them. Not only will they appreciate your words, but again, this can open another big door to opportunities.
Everyone’s more accessible now through social media, you just need to know the right place to look.
Blog
Who knows yourself better than you? No one! Start jotting down your thoughts and ideas that come to mind. Regardless of personal or business, it’s important to exercise the mind like this.
You may feel uncomfortable writing about your thoughts, but it’s a great exercise and a stress reliever. You will most likely inspire others to do even better, to strive for more, to increase their desire.
A Note
Did someone recently help you out? Send them a thank you note. It’s something they will remember for a very long time, and will host a great relationship.
Experiment
Each week, think of some new experiment. This doesn’t necessarily mean something with chemistry or biology, but rather a social experiment.
Create an event for you and some co-workers to attend to. See how much excitement you can bring into the workspace, or how much it allows your co-workers to open up.
Change
Changing a habit takes between 21-30 days, but if you put your mind to it the discomfort of changing a set routine can lead to great results.
Why would you want to be stuck doing the same thing anyways? If you want to truly #BeLimitless, then don’t be stuck crossing off the same checklist everyday.
Life’s too short to live in the same cycle. Take the stairs. Enjoy the walk up.
