some managers are about to discover that forwarding information was never leadership.

ai can do that faster.

it can summarize the thread, draft the status report, schedule the follow-up, compare the plans, and remind everybody what they already promised.

let the machine take the paperwork.

then watch what remains.

a real manager creates clarity when the facts are incomplete. they decide who owns the outcome. they notice the quiet person who understands the problem and the loud person who only understands the room. they remove a blocker, make a tradeoff, protect the standard, and tell the truth before the truth becomes expensive.

none of that is forwarding.

that cover is disappearing.

when every manager can produce a perfect summary in seconds, the summary stops proving value. the question becomes what changed because the manager was there.

did the team make a better decision?

did the customer get an answer?

did a weak priority die?

did somebody grow?

did risk become visible early enough to matter?

weak managers will respond by creating more process. more dashboards, more check-ins, more generated documents, more proof that activity occurred.

that is a trap.

ai can multiply bureaucracy with terrifying efficiency. a manager who does not know what matters will now be able to produce endless evidence of not knowing.

strong managers will use the same tools differently. they will arrive prepared. they will spend less time collecting facts and more time testing them. they will give feedback while it can still change the work. they will make ownership unmistakable.

they will also know when the model is wrong.

companies should stop measuring managers by meeting volume and document output. measure decision quality. measure how quickly the team resolves real blockers. measure whether people know what they own. measure whether bad news travels upward before it becomes a crisis.

ai will not eliminate management.

it will eliminate excuses for empty management.

the paperwork was never the job.

the judgment was.
