Making Your Dot Count

Making Your Dot Count

Have you stopped to reflect on your position in the universe and what you’re destined for?
Most people spend their entire lives figuring out what they really want to do or more important try to understand what life means to them. We’ve all been placed on this Earth for a reason, what kind of lives we should ultimately lead; to ponder where we fit into the cosmic master plan.
So, stop everything you’re doing. Take a pause. Do the following.
First, take a clean sheet of paper. Put a dot right in the middle. Then draw a circle around it as big as you can, as close to the edge of the page as you can.
The dot in the middle is you. The circle is the universe and you are the center of your own universe. This is you on the very fist day of your life as you begin your journey at birth.
Now draw a circle closer around that dot. This circle represents the family that you’re born into. You don’t get to pick your parents, your brothers and sisters, your grandparents, or your aunts and uncles. But this circle has immense impact on your life and is the first test. It can also be the most meaningful of all.
Next, draw another circle outside of the first. This is your second family—your husband or wife or significant other, and your kids. It’s a new life. The one you create.
Then create another circle—this is your third family; your professional family; another journey and path in life. As you build a successful business or career you often spend as much time (or more) with this group as you do with your personal family.
These ever-increasing, inter-connected circles are the cosmic energy that binds everything together. As you mature and grow your influence extends further afield. If you’re successful your influence can broaden way beyond family, friends and your professional life. That’s where you can become heroic for others in a magnetic way and touch a broader universe without your presence.
You have to stop and ask yourself: What’s important? What impact are you going to have? Why are you here? What are you going to learn from all of the twists and turns that fate has in store for you? That’s how the circle of life is ultimately going to be filled.
Most of us can aspire to have great influence and make a positive contribution to thousands, even hundreds of thousands of people. And then there are those special, unique individuals on the world stage whose messages of love and hope and inspiration permeate the globe. Charismatic leaders such as Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, the Dalai Lama and Martin Luther King, Jr.
They made sacrifices, selflessly and tirelessly working for the greater good, starting from their first circle. During their lives, however, they only met a tiny fraction of the people who have been influenced by their examples. But no matter how few or how many people we can hope to reach we need to follow this path in our own journey. Connect the dots between the circles, let them prosper. See the multiplication effect.
See what happens when cosmic energy embraces us all.
So, whatever you are doing right now I suggest you drop everything. Put that dot in the middle of the page. Draw those circles. Connect with the rest of the universe. We are all put on this planet for a purpose. We all have our own unique individual journeys to make. We all stumble along the way and become better human beings by learning from our path. We learn, we listen, we reflect, we love, we embrace, and we connect. That’s what defines our legacy.
We have our birth family. We have the personal family of our own creation. And we have the business family that we develop. Shine the light of love and understanding wherever you can. Connect those dots. Remember, you are the dot in the middle of your own universe.
Make that dot count.
