Love has no boundaries. Neither does RedLotus. They work hand in hand. So, that’s why Einstein’s quote is probably one of the most beautiful quotes to express this feeling; that we as humans crave for within ourselves, with others, and with the work we try to do.
It’s a word with four characters in it but has deep meaning and expression behind it. It’s, probably the single most important feeling you are blessed to receive and have the ability to share. And, if you’re lucky, it can be a lifelong set of experiences that manifest with a common core of people that share your ideals.
If you take a look at the late Steve Jobs, he also had a similar quote related to people and his work environment.
“It doesn’t make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do. Great things in business are never done by one person, they’re done by a team of people.”
I started RedLotus, 14 months ago. And, unlike my previous companies where I solely focused on “NIH” (not invented here) and built everything organically. This time, I did something completely different. Ironically, that’s the power of loving what you do. It was RedLotus that allowed me to pull together the right set of entrepreneurs, to grow faster, to inspire, create, and build our very own Mona Lisa.
When I look back at the last 14 months, I realize the magic that we created was just a form of love. In this short amount of time, we acquired 11 companies and integrated them successfully. We brought in people from all parts of the world and at the end of the day we shared one vision, to disrupt. And, we’ll announce our 12th acquisition next week.
To me, I believe my biggest gift has been finding great talent. Doing one acquisition is hard. But, doing 12 at this speed, is even more challenging. That’s why I look to find great entrepreneurs who want to do something different. Who are willing to defy the odds, in order to succeed, and not just chase money. And, those who don’t ever chase hope. They just use intuition to formulate their imagination.
Just like Leonard Da Vinci, created his Mona Lisa, rumors are, he took it with him everywhere he went, because he never thought his masterpiece was finished. When, I look at the last 14 months, and see the acquisitions, the entrepreneurs we were able to bring into the fold, it’s been an incredible rush. That rush we all share is powered by our own RedLotus for what we love doing. For what we love to change. For what we aspire to become. And, you can only do that when you find what you love doing and then let RedLotus take over.
The beauty is we have so much more to do. Some can call it crazy; I’d like to call it love.
