Fear of Failure is the Mother of Defeat

Fear of Failure is the Mother of Defeat

Think of one universal quality that is shared by every successful man or woman in history. Is it ambition? Hard work? Luck? Insightfulness? Probably. But there’s one more thing that is imperative to succeed: fearlessness.

How Gurbaksh Chahal Overcame Failure and Found Success

“Be fearless. The road to success is paved with failures. If you’re afraid to fail, you’ll never succeed”. This is one of the most inspirational quotes from ” The Dream: How I Learned the Risks and Rewards of Entrepreneurship and Made Millions”, an autobiography by Gurbaksh Chahal, one of the most successful entrepreneurs of our time. His life and career are the best proof.

One of the most magnificent stories of success had a very small beginning.

Gurbaksh Chahal was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Quite the opposite: a son of immigrants from India, he knew but too well the hardships of starting a new life in a foreign country.

At the age of sixteen he was a school dropout with little to his name but a dream of making it in America. His parents were demanding that he continue his education, but he had an idea, a vision, and was brave enough to risk it all and pursue his goal.

He launched his first company, ClickAgents, in 1998. Gurbaksh’s idea of an advertising network based on performance-based advertising proved successful, to say the least: eighteen months later it was sold for millions of dollars, making Gurbaksh one of the youngest millionaires in the digital marketing industry. This money helped pay off his parents’ mortgage and laid the foundation for his next venture.

Gurbaksh’s second company, BlueLithium, pioneered behavioral targeting in advertising. No wonder it was called Top Innovator of the Year, an achievement it shares with such giants as Skype and Google. A year later, BlueLithium was acquired by Yahoo! for $300 million dollars. From then on, Gurbaksh’s career was unstoppable.

By 2008, he had collected a number of awards and accolades and penned an autobiography that was an instant hit.

Gurbaksh proceeded to launch his third company, RadiumOne, and then the fourth – RedLotus. He’s driven by willingness to take risks, his talent and vision, unhindered by fear of failure.

He’s not alone in this sentiment. Great minds of all times warned against fear of failure as man’s greatest foe.

“Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” – Winston Churchill.

“The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.” – Henry Ford

“Success is most often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable.” – Coco Chanel

Don’t Let Your Fears Limit You

It is not our failures that limit us, but fear thereof. Failures can teach you a lesson, make you stronger; fear can only impede your journey to success.

Failures make you stronger, whilst fear inevitably makes you weaker; it robs you of your vital energy, blurs your vision, and destroys your determination.

Your fears create the invisible limit that won’t let you move forward and reach your goals. They make you doubt yourself and your decisions, and the ability to make decisions is vital for any entrepreneur.

“#Belimitless” is Gurbaksh Chahal’s motto. Don’t let your fears limit you. Take risks: If you win, you will be happy; if you lose, you will be wise.

Fear of failure means you’ve already failed.
