Gurbaksh Chahal | Four Things to Remember

They said, “Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of, who do the things that no one can imagine.” What makes these people successful isn’t rocket science; rather it is perseverance and faith in self.

As a young entrepreneur myself, I learned the harder I worked and blocked all the negative energy, my dreams of success became within my own reach.

Doubt: Doubt is a killer. The more you doubt that you can accomplish your dreams and goals, the more you manifest that result. As much as people talk high about hustling, most of the work isn’t glamorous. It requires dedication, energy, and time than most are willing to invest. Success isn’t easy, and it comes with failures, setbacks, and serious challenges. It requires a faith: a deep-rooted faith in your ideas and in yourself. Success comes from a lot of boring work done exceptionally well, over and over.

Bill Gates didn’t seem like a shoe-in for success after dropping out of Harvard and starting a failed first business with Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen called Traf-O-Data. While this early idea didn’t work, Gates’ later product innovations did, creating the global empire of Microsoft. Today, he’s one of the most inspiring philanthropists in the world.

Greed: There is no doubt that hustling and creating value produces an increase in your income. That’s one of the reasons you hustle, no doubt. And there is no shame in wanting more—as long as you are willing to be more and do more to have more. But, greed is different. Greed means that you will do whatever is necessary to make money, including hurting other people. There are people who have hustled their way to massive fortunes without being greedy. There are greedy people with relatively little who believe the only way to have more is to put money above anything and everyone else.

Jealousy: The one great lesson to learn by watching other hustlers is that they show you what is possible. At some point, you may even learn that some hustlers aren’t smarter than you; they just work harder to achieve their dreams. Don’t let jealousy destroy your hustle. You don’t produce better results by focusing on what someone else has. The fact that some hustlers are doing better than you are now has nothing to with what you can achieve. The more you focus on others, the less you are focused on what you should be doing. Admire their hustle. Learn from them.

I also believe in giving back to the community. Don’t ever forget this when you reach your goals. Staying rooted with the community, keeps you connected to the most meaningful things of humanity. For me, giving back to the community in the form of ensuring our future generation has the basic right to learn, gives me the passion to stay focused. This being the reason I created Chahal Foundation. The foundation provides not only education to the developed countries in the form of education, but also allows me to make a meaningful difference in the areas of developing countries. So, my advice, while you are driven towards your dream – find some meaningful way to keep you connected with humanity.

Lethargy: You can’t hustle if you don’t have the energy. You can’t get up early, stay up late, and sustain the level of intensity necessary to build your dream if you are lethargic. The very word “hustle” means: to act with haste, to move fast, to get things done. Time by itself doesn’t produce results. Neither will money. If you want to bring your dreams to life, you need relentless energy.

Today, mankind has stretched beyond the bonds of Earth and not only landed men on the Moon, but also sent exploratory missions to Mars and beyond.

Why? NASA explains it perfectly –

“Humanity’s interest in the heavens has been universal and enduring. Humans are driven to explore the unknown, discover new worlds, push the boundaries of our scientific and technical limits, and then push further. The intangible desire to explore and challenge the boundaries of what we know and where we have been has provided benefits to our society for centuries.”

Keep the dream alive.
